Science Behind Skincare
Our Approach
"Most skincare sits on the surface of your skin and goes nowhere. Ours is engineered to go deeper — because that is where results actually happen."
The Problem
Why most skincare
doesn't work
Your skin is designed to keep things out. The outermost layer — the stratum corneum — is a densely packed lipid barrier whose entire purpose is to block foreign substances from entering the body.
The vast majority of skincare products fail to account for this. Their active ingredients — however impressive on the label — are not formulated to penetrate the skin barrier. They sit on the surface, interact briefly with dead skin cells, and are washed or absorbed away. The living skin beneath remains entirely unaffected.
This is not a minor inefficiency. At a biological level, most skincare is largely inert — regardless of price, marketing, or the concentration of actives on the label.
"The skin barrier is extraordinarily effective at blocking skincare ingredients. Agloe is formulated from first principles around this reality."

The Solution
Next-generation
nanoliposome delivery
Agloe's formulations use a patented next-generation nanoliposome encapsulation system. Nanoliposomes are microscopic lipid-based spheres — small enough to fuse with the skin barrier and carry their contents into the deeper layers of the skin, right where they are needed.
When the liposome fuses with the skin barrier, the encapsulated actives are released into the deeper dermal layers. The liposome itself remains behind, replenishing the skin's own lipid barrier in the process.
This system works alongside pharmaceutical-grade penetration enhancers that further improve the passage of actives through the stratum corneum — ensuring that every ingredient in our formula reaches the layer of skin where it can have a measurable biological effect.
Encapsulation
Active ingredients are encapsulated within lipid-based nanoscale vesicles, protecting them from degradation until they reach their target depth.
Traversal
The liposome fuses with the skin barrier, carrying actives through the stratum corneum into the viable epidermis and dermis — bypassing the surface entirely.
Deep release
Actives are released evenly and deeply throughout the skin, stimulating collagen synthesis and cellular renewal at the layers where these processes actually occur.
Barrier replenishment
The liposome shell remains in the skin after delivery, contributing phospholipids that reinforce and nourish the skin's own barrier structure.
Key Active
Retinoids — the gold
standard, reimagined
Retinoids are the most evidence-backed ingredient in anti-ageing dermatology — with decades of clinical data supporting their role in promoting collagen synthesis, improving skin thickness and integrity, accelerating cellular turnover, and reducing hyperpigmentation.
The problem with conventional retinoid products is delivery. Standard formulations only penetrate the uppermost layers of the epidermis. This creates a well-documented paradox: the upper dermal layers become over-stimulated while the deeper layers — where collagen synthesis and structural skin renewal actually occur — are left under-stimulated.
The result is the familiar side effect profile of standard retinol use: dryness, irritation, flaking, and sensitivity — without the full depth of benefit that retinoids are capable of delivering.
Conventional retinol vs. Agloe nano retinoids
Standard retinol
– Surface-level penetration only
– Upper dermis over-stimulated
– Dryness, irritation, flaking
– Deeper layers remain under-stimulated
Agloe nano retinoids
+ Deep dermal delivery via nanoliposomes
+ Even dispersal throughout skin layers
+ Collagen stimulation without irritation
+ Supports barrier integrity
Because our formulation is highly potent, we recommend new users start by diluting with moisturiser and building up to full-strength use over 2–4 weeks, allowing the skin to adjust.

Marine actives &
multi-modal treatment
Agloe's skincare does not rely on a single active ingredient. Our formulations incorporate marine-derived bioactives alongside our nanoliposome retinoid complex — creating a multi-modal treatment that addresses skin health through several complementary pathways simultaneously.
Marine bioactives are one of the most exciting frontiers in evidence-based skincare. Marine organisms have evolved under conditions of extreme oxidative stress and UV exposure, producing unique bioactive compounds — polysaccharides, peptides, and carotenoids — with demonstrable anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and skin-renewal properties that complement our retinoid system.
Our formula addresses
Using Agloe Skincare
Potency requires
a considered approach
Agloe's skincare is formulated at a higher potency than most over-the-counter products, because efficacy requires meaningful ingredient concentrations — not diluted formulas that look good on paper but deliver little in practice.
For this reason, we encourage new users to introduce the products gradually. Start by mixing a small amount with your moisturiser and building up to full-strength use over two to four weeks as your skin adjusts. This is not a sign of sensitivity — it is a sign the product is working.
Starter guide
Mix a pea-sized amount with your moisturiser. Use every second evening.
Apply directly to clean skin every evening. Reduce if irritation occurs.
Full strength, nightly. This is where the results begin to compound.
